I know I’ve been absent for a while from this blog. My extended downtime period extended far longer than I anticipated after the holidays. I’ve hesitated in writing about it but as I said when I restarted this blog a few months ago, from time to time, I’d post a little peek into my life. After all, it’s a pretty major thing.
Total hip replacements (for left and right hips) have been in my future for years and that future had finally arrived. As of now, I’m just a few weeks from complete recovery. And then it will be all about building strength and flexibility. I can’t tell you how exciting this is for me and my family. And honestly, what it means for this photography business. Luckily, recovery has been somewhat painless. Recovery has also meant downtime with respect to photo shoots…and thinking and planning time with respect to new projects for my business – updating my web site, creating a new logo that more closely reflects my style, finding new higher-end packaging to present my clients with their gorgeous products and a new program just for Moms. I’m looking forward to telling you all about it.
Soon, I’ll be back at it. I purposely moved all of my shoots to June when I can photograph children in the style I love to photograph – dropping down to their level one second and jumping up to catch them the next. It’s an active approach to child photography and I’ve slowed down over the past few years as the hip pain increased. Though I was able to mask the pain with Ibuprofen or Tylenol over the years, it got to the point where that and a slathering of BioFreeze just wasn’t enough. But now, the hard part is over. Surgeries are done. The new hips are in. And I can’t wait to get back into the swing of photo shoots. I hope to see you soon!
