Holiday Mini Sessions To Benefit Empower Through Education | Menlo Park Family Photographer

Can you believe it’s still August and we’re already thinking of the holidays? Yea, that’s what it’s usually like around here. The Fall season is always the busiest for many photographers and we’re no exception. The more we can encourage our clients to get their holiday sessions done early, the better for everyone. Just think how relaxed it would feel to be done with photo holiday cards and gifts by…September? Might be a modern miracle but certainly possible.

Peace Through Education

The holidays are a perfect time to give and I love giving my time to help important causes during this busy season. This year, as last year and hopefully, every succeeding year, Solheim Photography is offering a day of mini photo sessions to benefit a worthwhile effort. This year, it’s Empower Through Education, an organization conceived of by a group of local women inspired by the book, “Three Cups of Tea,” by Greg Mortenson. Doing what they can with resources they have available, they embarked on a mission earlier this year to help the Central Asia Institute (CAI) raise funds to build schools, particularly for girls, in remote areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. It costs $50,000 to build and maintain a school there and that’s their goal. I know what you’re thinking, it takes a village, eh? Well, yes. And that village can be anywhere, including Silicon Valley.

So, won’t you join us? Check out the web site for more information on Empower Through Education, read the book, “Three Cups of Tea,” by Greg Mortenson to understand more about CAI’s mission and join us on Saturday, Sept. 18th, to do your part in this effort (and get a headstart on holiday cards and gifts!). Details are below:

We’re excited that Linda De Los Reyes of Solheim Photography, based in Los Gatos, will donate all session fees to CAI. Each mini session will cost $75 for up to 5 people and last from 20-30 minutes. As an added incentive, if you increase your session fee to $100 or more, you will receive a $25 studio credit at Solheim Photography (greeting cards excluded). For more information about the photographer and her high quality, unique approach to capturing modern lifestyles, please go to http://www.solheimphotography.com

Please email Cathy Tokic at pawlosc@yahoo.com to secure a time slot:

Time: September 18, starting at 9am
Place: Holbrook Palmer Park, 150 Watkins Avenue, Atherton

Thank you for your consideration and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,
Cathy Tokic

Yes, you’ll be able to order holiday cards from these sessions as well. Here are a few designs from last year but stay tuned. I’m about to get my card designing mojo going and will announce new designs in the coming weeks.

And because I must have photos in my blog posts…just a personal thing I have…here are a few images from last year’s holiday mini sessions held at Capitola beach to benefit AFNet AID. Enjoy!

More to come…stay tuned….
